Job Services for Youth: The Career Center

Training to enhance the growth and potential for students.

The Vanderheyden Career Center Supportive Employment Project is designed to build and sustain employment services for students attending our school, with a focus on those impacted by behavioral health needs, mental health challenges, and disabilities.

Through this project, students receive mentorship, field experiences, and individualized curricula tailored to address barriers to employment. Vanderheyden provides comprehensive career preparation including interest inventories, vocational assessments, and hands-on, work-based learning aligned with each student’s career goals.

Students gain real-world experience through on-campus opportunities in areas such as our bakery, kitchen, and maintenance team, as well as off-campus placements with community partners—ensuring a supported transition into post-secondary employment.
